Moral Side of the News

One of America’s oldest broadcasts

The Moral Side of the News is one of the longest running public affairs programs in American broadcast history. It’s first broadcast was May 14, 1952 on 840 WHAS and WHAS-TV.

Each week, a panel of clergy from diverse faiths discuss current affairs and give their unique moral perspectives.

The Crusade Advisory Council

The WHAS Crusade for Children has been tied to the Moral Side of the News from the very beginning. Moral Side panel members are part of the Crusade Advisory Council. This independent board of interdenominational ministers decides how donations are distributed each year.  They volunteer their time ensuring that 100 percent of your donation to the Crusade directly improves the lives of children with special needs.

Representatives from agencies, schools and hospitals apply for grants and appear before the council during grant hearings held each spring. Once the hearings are complete, the advisory council determines which agencies receive Crusade donations.

Since agency grant requests far exceed donations to the Crusade each year, the advisory council has difficult decisions to make.
